Excellent Chinese School! They make learning fun and natural using singing and play and the kids are placed based on level of ability vs just by age. We don't speak Chinese at home and our kids are still picking up the language. Our kids are enrolled in three 1-hr classes as part of Sing In Chinese's after-school program and homework club where they pick up the kids from their elementary school, feed them a snack, teach them Chinese, and help them with homework. Can you believe that... transportation, after-school childcare, homework help, AND LEARNING CHINESE all through this school! Lynn, the director, is incredible!!! She genuinely cares about all the kids and will really try to work with you to make your schedule fit. My kids' schedules are often hectic with different sports practices/games and she goes over and beyond to try and juggle the classes so my kids don't miss out. The entire staff is really talented as well as patient and kind. My kids love Ms. Carol. They have cute inside jokes and nicknames with her (in Chinese!) and really love learning from her. I can't say enough good things about the school. I'd give 10 stars if I could. Thanks to the whole staff at Sing In Chinese and especially to Lynn! You're helping to make a dream come true for me where my kids are going to be able to communicate and interact with their grandparents in Chinese!!!
My kids used to hate Chinese school. All three of them would whine and complain when they know it's the day when they have to attend their after-school Chinese school. However, when I switched my children to Sing In Chinese, every single one of them happily attend class. No whining, no fussing, they practically skip hop their way into class. If you're looking for a place where you want your children to not just tolerate learning Chinese, but LOVE it, this is the place!
My son started this program when he was 21 months old and was having so much fun just to participate class activities every Saturday! Teachers are very caring with great patience especially with little kids! When pandemic started, we thought this might disrupt his Chinese learning experience but Sing In Chinese has designed a program online where students are able to interact with teachers by utilized flash cards and art crafting to enhance subject that class has talked about throughout the week. Sing In Chinese is definitely the first choice for parents who are seeking fun and creativity way of learning Chinese for their kids!
Both of my kids started Chinese class and homework club from last year. From then they enjoyed going there. The teachers are amazing!
Both of my 8 and 9 year olds have lessons here. They have so much fun learning Chinese through games and songs. The class activities keep them engaged. They also spent the spring break at the camp here. They were able to learn a play in Chinese in just a week. We are looking forward to come back next year.
My daughters went about a year or two ago for a few months. Even though we haven't been back in a while, they still remember the songs. They really enjoyed the school and the staff was great. We're hoping they open a school closer to us so we can go back.
Engaging, effective, and fun. Sing in Chinese continues to impress. Online school has been a challenge for many of us, but Sing in Chinese understands how kids learn best and has made the online learning FUN. Through songs, movement, play, and laughter, they keep my kids learning. Your child could be bilingual, learning from home, AND enjoy the process. Sign up for a trial class and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Thank you, Sing in Chinese, for caring for our children well.
Online classes! Yes! My daughters have been going to Sing in Chinese for over 3 years now...and we couldn't be happier. What most impressed us recently, is how well Sing in Chinese pivoted and re-created their language learning program when Covid hit. From the online zoom classes, to the app for turning in assignments (homework/videos), our girls have continued to learn, and I can tell they are having fun. We sincerely appreciate the personal attention to each students growth and success. Thank you to all the wonderful teachers for their love of teaching and dedication to ensuring our kids continued to learn online. If you are looking for a "personal" program, that gets results, this is it!
We have tried a number of Chinese schools and this is by far the best school in the area. Consistent teachers who enjoy the kids and make it fun to learn. Our daughter picked up a lot in a very short period especially compared to her previous school. The owner is also always there and pays attention to every detail imaginable
My daughter enjoys the private tutoring sessions. She appreciates the one on one attention since she has little knowledge of the language. After 2 months she is now ready to join a group class which focuses on conversation, exactly what i was looking for.
Sing adapted beautifully to online learning without missing a beat! i had 2 kids continue their spring sessions into summer and into the current fall season. I have a third kiddo who saw how much fun her sibs were having and decided to join classes over the summer and opted to continue into the current fall season! Class sizes are small, teachers are fun, kind, and engaging. Homework materials/instructions are clear and easy for the kids to understand. The kids are definitely learning and progressing while having lots of fun. They all willingly and independently go to their zoom sessions. We also got together with 2 other families to form an outdoor creativity pod once a month. I like to call it a fun pod because the kids get to have so much fun socializing and learning science, art, music, cooking, all in Chinese! I am definitely a fan of Sing in Chinese. My kids have found a safe and nurturing environment that inspires them to learn Chinese.
This is a great school for kids to learn Chinese. The founder has a systematic music-based methodology that is both fun and effective. Both of my 4 and 5.5 year olds have been going for about 6 months and they both thrived and improved their Chinese significantly. They love the songs that the founder made and they enjoy listening and singing along frequently. I have checked out other Chinese schools in the area and this is by far the best. The materials they made are customized to kids interests and very engaging. My kids have so much fun each time! The founder is smart and genuinely cares for the kids. She also picks high quality teachers - not just anyone who speaks Chinese. The teachers and staff are high energy and extremely patient and nice. I think this place creates a great environment for learning Chinese and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
My 5 and 7 year olds have been attending for the past year. They not only have fun during class but amaze us at home on occasion by spontaneously bursting into a song or using words they learned. The curriculum and materials are well produced, drawn and engaging, and the method is innovative. Favorite books/songs to date include 'I Know', 'Summer', 'I Love My Family', 'Play Ball' and 'Halloween'. They are a family owned operation that is passionate about teaching children. Their expansion into other cities also reflect the growing success of their mission. We highly recommend Sing In Chinese for children learning mandarin!
I love this school! The teachers are so sweet and caring and really get on the children’s level! My daughter learns so much and really enjoys attending! The school is so clean and has a wonderful atmosphere for learning. The doors are locked during class for safety, which makes me feel better as a parent. The classes are small, so each child really gets great one on one time with the teacher, and no one falls through the cracks. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone wanting to their child to learn mandarin!
My kids love learning Chinese at this school and they adore all their teachers! The music/song based teaching strategies are fun, educational and inspiring. My kids look forward to their classes and are eager to complete their homework. And they practice voluntarily on their own because learning to speak/read/write Chinese is fun and challenging in all the right ways. Thank you so much Sing In Chinese!

My kids love this Chinese language school! They have been attending classes there for about a year now and the amount of Chinese they're able to speak is amazing. Even better, the way the lessons are taught is through song which means its not like school to them - they actually have fun learning the lessons. Each month they get a new CD with a lesson on it, including a song which has both Chinese and English. We listen to it in the car and the kids sing along with it like they would a Taylor Swift song on the radio. Before you know it they've effortlessly memorized the song and along with it have learned tons of new words and phrases in Chinese. The other cool thing is that they are learning full sentences rather than individual words so they are able to have conversations much quicker. I'm even learning a little bit of Chinese because if I try to play the radio in the van now, the kids complain until I play the Sing in Chinese CD of the month so they can sing along to it. In the class sessions they go over vocabulary and the kids always come home with flashcards and little story books so they are learning how to read and write Chinese as well. They have different levels of classes for both beginning Chinese and more advanced Chinese language study. I really like the fact that the kids are learning so much so quickly while still having fun with it - it's not like another hour of regular class packed onto their regular school day. I highly recommend these classes for anyone who wants their kid to learn to speak Chinese. Once you hear your kids singing along to a CD in Chinese you'll know that they're learning a lot even though it doesn't have the normal boring tedious nature that I remember my foreign language classes having when I was in school. A huge win - I'm very happy that I found this place.
The best Chinese school in the South Bay. My four year old and six year old have so much fun here. My little one comes home daily and sings in Chinese the songs that she has learned at Sing In Chinese. This program is so much more effective than the other ones we have tried in the South Bay. Its not just memorized learning, its more fun for the kids so they want to go back and learn. There are lots of games, worksheets and activities that are done in Chinese so its not just a boring lesson, its interactive. My kids are thriving here!
My daughter attends this school. It has worked wonders in terms of encouraging her to learn mandarin Chinese. The school makes it really fun for the kids to learn and interact in Chinese. The principal and teachers are all so wonderful and caring. They understand that this is the very first preschool for some of the students. The music is great and catchy so much so that I find myself singing the tunes. The inside of the school is so clean, warm and inviting, a safe place for kids to learn. It's a great school.
Sing In Chinese is a play-based school that teaches Chinese through music/singing in a fun and stimulating environment. The owner Lynn, as well the teachers, are extremely warm and caring, and very responsive to each child's individual needs. When my son first started, he was experiencing separation issues, and Lynn would take the time to sit with him one-on-one, making sure he felt comfortable. She also kept me posted with updates, as well as pictures of his morning. She is very attentive with all the children, and is genuine in her passion for working with them. These days, my son often comes home singing/humming songs he learned at school, and giggling about the games he played that day. I am so grateful to have found Sing In Chinese, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone!
This bilingual preschool has been a lifesaver for us first-time parents. The stress of finding a good school for your kid can keep you up at night. But when we found this preschool, it was like a huge weight was lifted off our shoulders. Our little boy started at this preschool when he was just two years old. He is three now, and the transformation we have seen in him is nothing short of amazing. You would not believe the nerves we had sent him off on his first day. But this school has been a true blessing. The teachers here are some of the most caring people I have ever met. They have made it their mission to ensure that our son, and all the other kids, are learning in a safe, comfortable, and fun environment. I mean, it is just unbelievable how quickly our boy has adapted and how excited he is every morning to go to school. And let us talk about the bilingual part. We wanted our son to learn Chinese, but we were clueless about how to go about it. But this kindergarten made it a piece of cake! The teachers use all sorts of fun and interactive ways to get the kids to learn Chinese and English side by side. Our boy is now talking and singing in Chinese, we could not be prouder. This school is more than just a preschool to us, it is a community. It is a place where our son is learning about the world, about different cultures, and how to respect and appreciate the differences in people. So, to all the staff at this fantastic preschool, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your hard work, dedication, and love for what you do have made this journey a breeze for us. And most importantly, you have given our son an incredible start to his education. Our gratitude for your work is endless. We are excited to see where this journey will take our son next. Thanks for giving us peace of mind and for helping our boy grow and learn every day. Keep doing what you are doing - you are changing lives!
Excellent, efffective, and fun. I am an educator myself, and I am continually impressed with the professional, smart, engaging, and fun way that this school teaches the children. The curriculum is song based, making the language go into long term memory faster. Not a minute of the classtime is wasted and each student is nurtured toward speaking, reading, writing, and comprehending Mandarin. Both my children look forward to their time at Sing in Chinese each week. I wholeheartedly recommend this school. We are so thankful we found this South Bay gem!
This is my favorite school! The owner is passionate and gives every parent individual feedback and takes the time to make sure the classes are enjoyed by the children, in a way I have never experienced at any school. You periodically get a CD (written and sung by the owner) and colored storybook with a "theme" and my kids can't get enough of the songs, and perform them at home for us, and sing as we drive in the car. The kids learn language through song, props and games during class, which makes the school unique, whimsical and fun, and what better way to make learning a language fun. My husband and I have no Chinese background, nor understanding of the language, and feel that, in this global world, for a child to learn to speak Chinese at an early age is the best early education we can give our kids. This school is unprecedented!
Teachers and the principal at Sing In are very loving, caring and professional. They truly care about our children learning the Chinese language. The online program via zoom since the start of the pandemic has been successful and my children have been progressing nicely. The use of Class Dojo and Quizlet are good supplemental tools that contributed to the online program success. If you are looking for a Chinese language school in the South Bay area, I highly recommend Sing In.
This review is long overdue. My son has been attending their summer camp for the third year running and now his sister has joined him. The teachers are amazing. Fun, energetic, kind and good at keeping the kids engaged. We have attended other Chinese classes but Sing by far surpasses them. My son used to dislike going to Chinese class/camp but now he loves it. If any of you have memories of going to Chinese school as a kid and hating it, this is the exact opposite. I am so happy to have this resource to help my children learn mandarin without subjecting them to mild trauma. :) It's incredibly heartwarming to see your child learning mandarin and actually enjoying it. I plan on continuing to send my kids to their summer camps, weekend classes, and perhaps in the future they will offer overseas camps in Taiwan. One can wish, right?
Online Classes at Sing in Chinese: My 8 year old daughter and 12 year old son are both taking the online enrichment classes in their respective levels. We've been a part of the Sing in Chinese Community since they have opened and they have always made sure to provide each student with the best learning experience as possible. I appreciate how the teachers meet regularly to discuss and evaluate the needs of each student and they've always kept me informed of my kids' progress. Informally, they will periodically check in with me to see how we are feeling about the classes. They intentionally keep the class sizes small so that the students receive a lot of personal attention. Now that we've chosen to take the online classes, I hear both of my kids actively speaking during most of their class times. On many occasions, I've heard them laugh out loud, which puts a smile on my face as well. I know they always look forward to their sessions and I believe it is because the classes are very interactive. Also, the instructors take an interest in them as individuals. We are so grateful for the thoughtful, caring teachers in this community!
We live in Washington state and currently take online classes with Sing in Chinese. My daughter is four and has been taking classes for about three weeks. I have seen a lot of improvement in her Chinese speaking abilities and she enjoys the classes greatly. Her teacher JoJo is very enthusiastic and really good with the students. The curriculum is fun and engaging. I highly recommend Sing In Chinese even if you don't live in the LA area. The virtual platform works flawlessly.
This place has it figured out, both pre- and during-Covid: their online classes have been as good as the in-person experience. My daughter (with no prior knowledge of Mandarin) is during her second year and her capability of speaking is incredible . I attribute it all to their method of teaching that keeps it engaging for students while encouraging to learn quickly new vocabulary phrases and grammar (the singing method is very helpful especially at the beginning), and the friendly and knowledgeable staff who push the boundaries for kids while maintaining a fun friendly interaction. I also have to mention that they have gone out of their way several times to remind me of online classes running when we hadn't joined the teleconference at start time. Thank you and keep it going!
If you are looking for a Chinese immersion preschool for your little one, look no further than Sing in Chinese Preschool! My husband and I have two sons, ages 7 and 4, and have had a lot of experience with a variety of local Chinese schools. There are so many factors to consider when choosing what is best for your family, so we wanted to share how over the moon we have been with Sing In Chinese. Neither my husband nor I speak Mandarin, but we realized how valuable speaking it would be for a better world-view for our children and our family. When my children were little, I took a couple Chinese language classes at El Camino College so while I am in no way fluent, I can at least speak basic simple sentences now at home. Beyond that, their only Chinese language exposure comes from their respective schools. You know how they say when you meet the right person, you just KNOW they are the one you are supposed to marry? Well, we just KNEW we made the right decision to send our son to Sing in Chinese the very first week of school. From his first day, he was SO happy to be there and made friends immediately. All the other parents in the same class as our son are constantly remarking on what a special bond these kids have with each other and their nurturing teachers. Without any direction from parents or adults, the children are often so excited to see each other every day that many of them greet each other with a hug, or group hug, and similarly bid farewells in a similar manner which speaks to not only the caliber of the families at the school, but also the quality of the teachers and environment. Beyond seeking a safe and compassionate environment, the main qualification we sought was Chinese language acquisition and boy, has Sing in Chinese delivered in a huge way! Their program is fully immersive in such a fun and loving way that within a span of only three months, our son was speaking complete and complex sentences in Chinese. This was such a huge win for us considering he was at another local Chinese school for a year and only ever responded to them in English and minimal Chinese. Sing in Chinese uses their own proprietary and creative curriculum which involves teaching Chinese through a large catalog of songs they specially created for their students. And wow does it work! From his first week of school to the present, our son is constantly singing songs to himself and to us that he is learned at school, from colors of the rainbow, to cleaning up, going to the beach, and countless others. Beyond their curriculum, they truly believe in immersing the kids and do not translate or assume translation is needed for the kids, and that has been a huge win for helping our child quickly master the language! Other things you may be wondering: 1. Kindergarten-readiness: If you are hesitating to sign up for a Chinese immersion program because you are worried your child will be behind when starting kindergarten, have no fear as Sing in Chinese Preschool carves out time to work with the children on number and letter recognition, phonics, writing skills, fine motor skills, and team building. From my experience between the variety of Chinese schools and American preschools our children have been to, this school is already doing more in terms of preparing my child than even the English-speaking preschool my older son attended and am confident that my youngest will be more than prepared to start his journey at a typical American program when he is old enough. 2. Discipline: I appreciate that Sing in Chinese operates in a gentle manner not seeking to punish children if they make mistakes, but to teach them in a positive manner that does not shame. 3. Communication: The school does an excellent job of sending out daily and weekly communication of what subjects the children are learning and even include phrases and words which are helpful if you are trying to learn along side your child. They use a helpful app where you can send messages to the teachers and administration. They also do a nice job of including pictures of their activities with your child at work which is a fun peek into their daily routines! 4. Safety: The school has taken extra measures to include a code lock door on their classrooms and use an app to check your child in and out each day with a unique code that only your family has. I am so glad we made the switch from the other local Chinese school to Sing in Chinese and I can truly say our child is thriving there! It is not uncommon to hear my child as well as many of the others request to stay later because they love school and their friends so much. I am so glad we made the decision to move to Sing in Chinese and I can not wait to see how the love for learning the Chinese language of my children continues to develop over the years at not only their preschool, but also their after-school program! Thank you to Director Lynn Laoshi and the amazing teachers at this school for fostering such a love of learning!
My daughter enrolled in full day, 5 days a week, program started in September, 2022. She had surprised us with how quickly she learned to speak Mandarin to communicate to me, my wife, and her grandparents and the vocabulary she uses sometimes completely surprised us. The way the education program structured not only taught her the language but also singing, dancing, writing, and art as well as improved her social skill to play nice with others. Teachers seem to care so much about the kids and have so much passion for teaching and caring for them. I have never seen my daughter talked about her teachers and eager to go to school to see her teachers and play with her friends. The Brightwheel application the school uses for instance communication with parents and the amount of effort teachers take to post the daily progress throughout the day was absolutely awesome and it meant a lot to all parents. It was absolutely joyful for parents to see how much funs the kids had for the day in real-time. Thanks to the teach of our daughter for taking care of the kids, spending the time and effort to send a very detailed weekly reports to inform parents on what the kids had learned for each week. Also really appreciate her and Miss Lynn for a very throughout progress report and discussion during our first parents/teachers conference. It was really helpful for us to understand her progress and the area where we could help to accelerate her learning and development. Overall, we were glad that we enrolled her to build a great foundation for Mandarin learning. We have seen great improvement within the past few months not only in speaking and learning Mandarin but also all aspect of her pre-school education and experience. Highly recommended for all parents who want a similar great learning experience for their kids!
